Go Out for a Day at the Races

The Belmont Stakes Horse Races

There is no better way to say “Hello Summer” than a day at the races at Belmont Park on Long Island. The Belmont Stakes Festival runs from June 8th to the 10th bringing three straight days of pounding hooves to New York’s avid racing fans. The three-day racing event culminates the final part of the Triple Crown by the 149th running of the Belmont stakes. Top musical entertainment, food, and drink are also going to be abundantly available throughout the facility as well as stakes betting.

Find a Gift for Dad

June is also the month that we honor our fathers on the third Sunday as people across America celebrate their paternal bonds with a nation of beloved dads. Here are a couple of unique NYC gift ideas for Father’s Day.

Madison Square Garden Concerts

Take dad to a concert at the iconic Madison Square Gardens this June. He is bound to love some of these legends scheduled to play. Bands and show dates for June are Billy Joel (June 6), Neil Diamond (June 15 & 17), and John Legend (June 27-28). Or treat dad to a fight at the infamous Gardens with tickets to Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva in their light heavyweight fight on June 24 in the MSG arena.

Beer and a Boat Ride

If there are two things that dads are notoriously known to love, it’s both beer and boats. A beer and brunch cruise for Father’s Day is departing from Pier 40 at 353 West Street right at 12 PM on Sunday, June 18. The ticket price of the cruise is a reasonable $75.00 and includes two hours on the water cruising past such spectacular sights as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, and other famous New York landmarks. A classic brunch buffet is served and dad can partake in unlimited beer refills in a free beer mug with the boat logo on it. A live Jazz band and DJ are also included onboard.

Another aspect of June is that businesses are getting ready for the higher customer traffic of summer. That means repairing or scheduling maintenance on the garage doors and security gates protecting New York City apartments, offices, warehouses and factories.
