After months and months of cold winter weather, the city’s inhabitants and visitors are flocking to the multitude of fine parks, spring events, and yearly festivals that the Big Apple has to offer them. May in New York City is a wonderful time of the year to get back outdoors and enjoy some fun and fresh air. The Month of May also brings New Yorkers back out at night to take advantage of the multitude of entertaining nightlife events scheduled in Gotham during spring. Below are five of our top NYC event picks for May of 2018.

#1. Mother’s Day Good Music Fest 2018  
On Sat, May 12th, at 7 pm, Boyz II Men, Charlie Wilson, Kem, and Joe will all be performing a special Mother’s Day event at Barclays Center in the heart of Brooklyn. Barclays Center is the home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Jets and has hosted many renowned performers such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Bruce Springsteen. The Center holds 19,000 concert seats and 101 luxury suites plus four bars and four more clubs and a full restaurant. Ticket prices for the concert range from 66 dollars to over $156+. Tickets for this event are limited to 8 per person.
Performer Bios:
Charlie Wilson
: There are 11 Grammy Awards nominations attributed to this Gap Band performer’s name.  With a bestselling memoir and a music career that’s still going strong, it’s no wonder that Charlie Wilson’s tours are continually sold-out.
Kem: This World renowned R&B singer and songwriter holds a Platinum Album and two Gold Albums, plus, three Grammy nominations. His top hits include “Love Calls” and “I Can’t Stop Loving You.”
Boyz II Men: These 1990s kings of harmony arose to the very top of the R&B charts with their incredible ballads. Boyz II Men is currently composed of baritone Nathan Morris alongside tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.
Joe: This child of an evangelist preacher has an album that reached number two on the Billboard 200. Joe also has topped the charts internationally in countries like the Netherlands, Australia, France, Sweden, and the UK.

#2. The Brooklyn Crush Wine & Artisanal Food Festival
The wine will flow on May 12th at the Brooklyn Crush wine event at the Landing in Industry City, Bldg. #2, at 220 36th St. in Brooklyn, NY. The Brooklyn Wine Fest is offering the choice of a day or night session. The first session is from 2 pm to 5 pm. The second session is from 7 pm to 10 pm.  The wine festival will be providing an exquisite selection of wines from local state wineries, and also multiple wines from wineries located around the World such as in France, Italy, Bulgaria, Chile, Brazil, and many other countries which are well-known for their delicious wines. Ciders and other fermented beverages will also be on the list of offerings at Brooklyn Crush, along with an amazing array of artisanal hors-d’oeuvres, and some signature dish samples from prominent New York City restaurant chefs.

General admission ticket prices are $69 for the afternoon session (2 pm to 5 pm), $64 for the evening session (7 pm to 10 pm). Included in the general admission price is a complimentary etched tasting glass. Premium early access tickets are for entry one hour before the session begins, (1 pm afternoon session or 6 pm evening session). Early Premium admission is $120.00. All patrons of the Brooklyn Crush Wine and Artisanal Food Fest must be at least 21 years of age or over to attend. 15% Group Admission discount tickets are also available.

#3. CoffeeCon
On May 19th and 20th, New York City’s coffee aficionados will be amped-up to go to this year’s CoffeeCon at Villain, located at 307 Kent Ave in Brooklyn. CoffeeCon promotes itself as a 100% consumer coffee festival that provides a tasting floor and tasting seminars, plus labs and classes on just about everything that has to do with coffee. The festival will be running from 9 am to 4 pm on both weekend event days.

Tickets to CoffeeCon are from $20 to 50 dollars each and cover entry to the tasting room floor and access to free coffee classes and seminar events. Coffee classes cover everything from Latte Art to Advanced Expresso and Home Roasting. Ticket refunds are available for up to 7 days before the start of CoffeeCon. Entry is free for children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult.

#4. Vulture Festival NYC
The Vulture Festival on May 19th and 20th is the American entertainment experience of the year and is happening mostly at Milk Studios, plus a few other NYC locations. The event highlights many top entertainers’ over the weekend. Hollywood Hall of Famers will include shows from Claire Danes, Ava Duvernay, Tracy Morgan, Samantha Bee, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Liev Schreiber, Julianna Margulies, John Leguizamo, Jim Parsons, Phoebe Robinson, Hillary Duff, and Rachel Bloom among many others.

Ticket purchases include an ultimate entertainment experience and access to the Vulture Lounge which offers each ticket holder with two complimentary drinks. #5. Memorial Day Commemoration at Riverside Park
On May 29th from 10 am to 12 pm in Riverside Park at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, a Memorial Day Commemoration is being held in honor of our American veterans and active service members. The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Association is putting on the memorial at Riverside Drive and West 89th street in connection with New York Fleet Week. A U.S. Navy Band will start by playing a precluding musical number at 10 am. The Memorial Day Commemoration procession will then begin at 10:30 am, led by the New York Scottish Pipes and Drums, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the Veteran Corps of Artillery. Active duty sailors will be there to participate as well.
